My son Cian was one of the first children to try the treatment in Ireland. He was in the original group when we first heard about the new development and contacted the ATC. We were both stuck at home caring for Cian full time and had a life of no hope of much change ahead. Our GP was unhelpful and the school seemed to think a lot of Cian's difficulties were caused by our own bad child rearing practices. We were virtually full time jailors for Cian just trying to keep him safe from danger in and out of the house and much of the time he spent just sat in front of a video of Thomas the Tank engine sucking a bottle with no inclination to leave it except to get into danger or destroy property. We couldn't have a phone or a gadget in the home within his reach. We had never sat in a restaurant with him as a family with our other teenage daughter who was also a part time relief carer for Cian and who enjoyed no social life due to the house being out of bounds for friends and the constant care needed. We can never imagine going back to that life now. It seems a million miles away now when we all sit in a restaurant on a Sunday afternoon or participate in the many activities and groups Cian now enjoys. Cian has a proper childhood now with friends and great academic achievement. We have been given our son back and our daughter also now has a proper teenage life. My message for other parents would be to not rely on local medical advice but keep searching and hopefully you will find this treatment as we did.

My 5 year old daughter Kaylee now has an improved life quality with the treatment we got from the ATC. I don't know why parents are not told about this at the doctors. She is now verbal and we we were told she would never speak.

I was the carer mainly in charge of a little boy called Dan who was diagnosed at 3 and we were told to expect he would be institutionalized by the age of 5. With the treatment he received from ATC Dan now attends a mainstream school and is doing well and making friends.
